The first version of activeTAPI hit the streets in 1999 – an ActiveX component built with VB6. The activeTAPI components made the Windows Telephony API available to everyone.

activeTAPI-DyNav is a good example of how CTI functionality was implemented in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, based on Window TAPI, based on activeTAPI.

Today, Computer Telephony where a server is connected to a PBX using Windows TAPI is no longer state of the art. Skype and other internet technologies have evolved, and activeTAPI is evolving, too.

activeTAPI-Service is a REST service to format telephone numbers and it can be used by any application. And activeTAPI-Dyn365 adds telephone number validation and formatting functionality to Microsoft Dynamics 365.
